Boise State Named Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week

An entertaining opening weekend for the Boise State football team has earned the Broncos some more early season recognition, as the Football Writers Association of America has named Boise State the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week (Sept. 4) following its 33-30 win over Virginia Tech, Monday (Sept. 6) night.

The Broncos managed to rally from a fourth quarter deficit with late heroics from junior quarterback Kellen Moore and senior wide receiver Austin Pettis. Moore found Pettis on a 13-yard touchdown pass with 1:09 remaining to provide the go-ahead score. With the win, Boise State extended its winning streak to 15 games.

The FWAA has named a national team of the week since the 2002 season. This marks the seventh season that the award has been sponsored by the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Other teams nominated for the Sept. 4 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week honor were East Carolina and Jacksonville State.
